Opportunities to Give

Addiction is a growing problem in our society both outside and inside our churches. If you have not experienced this personally in your church, it is very likely that you will soon. Many times pastors and counselors are at a loss as to where to turn for help. They strongly desire to help their church members with their struggle, but do not know what to do. Because of this, many church members end up in secular rehabilitation facilities with less than promising success rates. Well, I’m here to tell you that there is another solution!

Hello! My name is Mike Kotouc, and I am a graduate from the Reformers Unanimous Men’s Discipleship Home. We are a Christ-centered addictions program from right here in Rockford. You may have heard of us before, but unfortunately, many have not. We believe in this community and the hope that Christ gives for freeing us from the power of sin.

Reformers Unanimous has been sharing the freedom that only Christ can bring, to the Rockford community, for many years. We have a local outpatient chapter at our church that averages 250 on Friday nights, and we also operate two inpatient facilities. We have a 100 bed Men’s Discipleship home, and a 60 bed Ladies’ Discipleship home. Friends, Reformers Unanimous is only a tool, but God is using it mightily here and our success rate is over 80%! Knowing that true recovery comes from God, we believe it is important for you to have knowledge of real recovery and share that with those you may know that are struggling with stubborn habits and addictions.

It is with this belief that we want to share with you the marvelous works God is doing right here in Rockford! We invite you and members of your church family to come and tour some of our facilities, and enjoy a free lunch with us as we familiarize you with our ministry. It is our desire to show you what you can do to help those struggling both inside and outside of your church. We will also provide all in attendance with a copy of the book “Recovery Through God’s Truth” to help guide you as you reach out to others.

The location of the event will be at our Ladies Home on 310 Arnold Avenue, right off of State St. behind Lino’s Italian Restaurant. I know you would be blessed by a visit with us, and as a graduate, I know from experience how greatly the students there would be as equally blessed by your presence! We currently have 2 dates scheduled for these tours. The first is on April 24th, and the second on May 29th. The luncheon times on both dates is from 11:30am-1pm. We can accommodate up to 20 people on each of these dates, so reserve your spot early! If you cannot make it for either of these days, we will have more tours scheduled in the months following. To reserve your spot, simply call me at (815) 209-2807 and it would be my honor to serve you!

Thank you for your consideration in this. We covet your prayers as we continue to reach out to the addicted in our community, and look forward to getting to know you and your church.

Thank you!

Michael Kotouc

P.S. Below I have included a link to my personal testimony of victory over addiction through the power of Jesus Christ!

Christmas Gift for the Homes

Christmas is a joyous time. It is a time to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ with those we love. Romans 6: 23b, “…the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Unfortunately, for many of our students at Reformers Unanimous, Christmas has been a time where loneliness, darkness, and despair have outshined the love, joy, and laughter that we often take for granted. Most of our students would like to completely forget their past Christmas memories. Perhaps this year, you can help make their Christmas worth remembering for years to come.

“Christmas has always been a stressful season for me. It has been lonely and filled with bad memories. Christmas felt more like a season to endure rather than enjoy. Christmas at RU, however, was a time I will never forget. I knew I had done nothing to deserve this, but through it I was able to see God’s heart for me personally. I wished I was with my immediate family, but realized my behaviors in the past never allowed it anyway. This year I did have a family with which I celebrated…my RU family.” – Michael, an RU graduate

We want to display God’s love this year. We need your help! Would you make a special donation to go towards supporting the men and women in the RU homes? Each year, on Christmas and New Year’s Day, we have special activities for our students including: traditional Christmas and New Year’s dinners, gifts, cards, and even a trip to a Christmas Pageant. We love to serve our students in this way, but this is a costly annual undertaking. Your generosity will give them a positive Christmas memory that can help erase the pain of the past.

Give Now!

This is also the time to consider a special year-end gift to help us reach more hurting people with the love of Christ and meet the pressing needs for expansion. I have received many phone calls from people asking about our needs for year-end giving. Right now, as I write this letter, there are 85 students in our care and over 600 applicants. Our need for growth has never been greater. There are so many men and women who are desperate to find forgiveness and healing. With your help, we can reach them.

Our program remains at a steeply discounted rate for the men and women whom we serve. Compare that to the cost of secular rehabilitation programs that charge as much as $2,000 a day per individual. Equally amazing is the fact that our actual cost is only $65 a day per student…less than 4% of the cost of other programs.

A special year-end gift will help us continue to answer the desperate cries for help and decrease our waiting list. We want to continue expanding to meet the ever increasing demand for our discipleship homes.

Sincerely, Dr. Paul A. Kingsbury

P.S. I ask you to provide a special note of encouragement to the students in our homes.

You will find this opportunity located in the comment field of our donation form. Each of these encouraging notes will be placed on a Christmas tree for the students to enjoy.

Reaching the Addicted Nation

The Lord has blessed the growth of Reformers Unanimous with over 800 chapters located across the country. In an effort to focus on reaching the individual addict we have created the “Victorious Life Partners.”

Reformers Unanimous is committed to helping those suffering from addiction to alcohol, drugs, gambling, pornography, and a variety of other things that steal the life from what God intended us to be. No matter the addiction, trained staff provides a caring and positive environment and the truths of scripture to help the addicted find true release into God’s forever freedom. Whether through our church program, prison program, 24/7 on call counseling center, or our residential schools of discipleship, your gifts will provide the necessary biblical resources and counseling so needed by those coming to RU for help.
Just $45 a month helps us introduce an addict to the life-saving resources and programs he or she needs to begin the recovery process.

This is a letter from Susan to RUI. Susan was able to make use of the Timothy Fund Scholarship Program and graduate from our Women's Home.
    Dear Sir or Madam:
I am writing this letter in the hopes of being considered for a scholarship to the Reformers Unanimous School of Discipleship. I am 34 years old and have been an addict for most of my adult life. My addictive lifestyle has brought nothing but pain and destruction to my life and to those who care most about me. I have tried to quit using drugs on my own, went to treatment centers, and only obtained short periods of sobriety. When I heard about RU Schools of Discipleship, I had this overwhelming feeling that it was exactly what I needed. I want to grow in Christ and learn all that I can about living this victorious life that I belive God has planned for me. Though I want more than anything to come to Rockford and be a part of RU’s Discipleship Schools, I have no one to sponsor me. The few people that are still supportive of me just plain can’t afford it. I have been praying that if it be God’s will that I go to Rockford, that He will make a way. If given a chance and provided with a scholarship, I would be extremely grateful.

I believe I need this program. The structure, discipline, and the opportunity to learn how to live for God are the only way I feel I will truly overcome and find freedom. Please considter me for a scholarship. Thank you for your time and consideration.

    God Bless,
    Susan M. Woods

    Brick Program

    Click for a Brick!

Become a part of Reformers Unanimous history with the purchase of an engraved brick in honor of you, your family, or a loved one! These decorative bricks will be placed at our new Women’s Home complex. Our student work crews will be constructing a patio near the family fellowship area using these bricks to symbolize God’s remarkable rebuilding and transforming process. As our many visitors from throughout the world come and see our new “Miracle Mansion”, they will be blessed to see bricks commemorating the names of those who sacrificially gave of themselves for the Lord’s work!*

Your investment of only $100/brick will help hurting women put their lives back together through the power of the Gospel.

RUI bricks are a great way to observe any special occasion or provide a lasting memorial for a loved one. And, each brick you purchase will serve as recognition for your support of Reformers Unanimous. We are excited to demonstrate just how many people are truly burdened for hurting, battered, and addicted women. Furthermore, it is our hope that these bricks will serve as a motivational tool for our ladies as they will be reminded daily of the support that they have behind them.
